Amazon Kindle eReader

Amazon Kindle eReader: The Amazon Kindle is a device that allows you to read eBooks and other media types by accessing the books through their network, Amazon's Whispernet. When first released the Amazon Kindle eReader was only available in the United States, but has now become available in more countries worldwide.

This device uses E Ink brand electronic paper that displays in 16 shades of grey. It is used without a computer connection and there are no monthly fees or subscriptions required to access their Whispernet network. By using this electronic paper which provides you with the reading experience of a regular book, the Kindle is readable even in bright sunshine.

Another improved feature is the inline dictionary as you move to a word the definition will appear at the bottom of the page, whereas previously you had to leave the page to read the definition. An iphone application is now available for users so you can read content from Kindle on your iphone. Content needs to be downloaded through the Amazon Kindle Store and you are not allowed to share or transfer your content to another Kindle user.

Newspaper, magazine and RSS feeds can be added to your device for a monthly subscription fee. The Kindle makes travelling so much more enjoyable these days. If you are going on a long train ride what's better than using your Kindle to read your favorite novel. Easy to use and portable it saves you luggage room and weight especially for air travelers. The downside to the Kindle is that the battery makes this device seem very heavy and the Kindle is not suited for students. It is great for reading long novels but for researching and skimming back and forwards it can be hard to navigate your way through it.

It is not like a website where you can have several tabs open and refer back to them as required. With its big screen it is advisable to purchase a cover for it, as it could easily get broken if just thrown inside your purse or bag. It's something that you don't want to get wet but it still beats reading a hardcover book at the pool and leaving with soggy pages. With the newest version of the Amazon Kindle eReader you have the convenience of adding highlights and notes as you read.

There are also plans for Amazon to release a thinner version of the Kindle in the very near future with possibly color versions.
